    Description

Unique and gripping Forest Service Region 5 (Pacific Southwest Region) Siege of '87 tribute to wildland firefighters poster in excellent used (pre-owned would be more accurate) condition.  These posters were given to Region 5 employees following the massive firefighting effort in the 1987 fire season which became known as the Siege of '87 when, during a five day period that commenced on August 30, 1987, dry lightning strikes ignited more than 1,500 fires that destroyed in excess of 600,000 acres of California forests.  More recent fire seasons have surpassed that record, but the truth of the message has never changed:  "On the battlefield of fire . . . their courage made them heroes next to the angels."
The poster depicts the shadow of a firefighter with a pulaski, lightning striking the blazing hills in the background, all surrounded by a wide black border.  It measures 16" x 20" so definitely frameable.  It has never been displayed so no pin holes, no tears or markings (but see picture for a small rough spot on the edge at the bottom left side) and has been stored flat in a smoke-free environment.   It will be mailed in a sturdy 4" diameter mailing tube.  This should allow it to easily re-flatten.  I could also mail it flat however, it would need to be sent Priority Mail and may cost more.
