    SONY DTC 700 DAT TAPE DECK RECORDER
    TESTED SOLD FOR PARTS OR NOT WORKING WILL REQUIRE PROFESSIONAL SERVICE
    This listing is for a used Sony DTC 700 DAT tape deck. I tested the unit and the transport is not operating. When you press the open button the door opens and after 5 seconds it closes on its own. I was able to insert a DAT cassette and it does load into the machine but the tape does not load onto the head it just spills the tape you can see in the pictures. No transport functions are working. I found the small foam cylindrical barrel pad that goes on the end of the arm that rides the head deteriorated, it was falling apart so I removed it. The drum head needs cleaning as well.
    The illumination for the cassette well is good, I connected my iPhone to test the analog preamp inputs and it is good, sound excellent through headphones, the level controls and meters are good, headphone output is working, the potentiometers can use a little Caig DeoxIt they are slightly noisy but not bad. I pressed the buttons and the display is bright and clear and responds to every command.
    Cosmetic condition is good, this is physically clean with no dirt or nicotine contamination. There are some small marks and scratches on the top right side edge of the faceplate, the graphics and lettering are intact. Top cover and rear panel very nice.
