OLD 1954 SMOKEY THE BEAR PORCELAIN SIGN - FIREFIGHTING FIRE RESCUE - DATED!

Since 1944, the U.S. Forestry Service under the Agriculture Dept. has urged citizens to prevent forest fires. Forest fires aided our enemies in Nazi Germany and Japan. The lumber was greatly needed for the war effort.
To help accomplish this, Smokey was made the iconic mascot for this campaign.
This is a very rare porcelain sign with a beautiful, vivid, lifelike image of Smokey.  Smokey is pointing at you, holding a shovel, saying, "Only you can prevent wildfires".  This porcelain sign is dated "1954".
This porcelain signs 12" in diameter.  It is very good condition.  The 4 holes are worn a  bit, but there are no big chips on the edges of the sign.  There are a couple of very minor maker in the top finish as shown.  Smokey is very colorful with no fading.
