Harriet Porcher Stoney Simons (1896-1971), the daughter of Samuel Gaillare Stoney (1853-1926) wascivic leader, political activist, and wife of renown architect
Albert simons (1890-1980). She was the first president of the Charleston League of Women Voters, organized and headed the South Carolina League of Women Voters, and was involved in many civic, social, and political organizations, including the RedCross, the Maternal Welfare Bureau, and the Welfare Council of Charleston. As Chairwoman of the Community Relations Project Committee of the Charleston Welfare Council,
she supervised the undertaking of the Urban League Survey Project to provide a basis for biracial planning in Charleston County. Offered for sale is her 4"x6" book plate.
