    Description

    Unique firemen's ball card invitation. This one is shaped like a helmet front. 4 separate cards tied together with a cord and tassel provide the evening's itinerary for dances and lists the committee members.  The event was held at the Collingwood's Opera House on Feb 4th 1869. (note that the Collingwood Opera House had just opened its doors and held its inaugural event only 3 days prior).  This opera house is now named the Bardavon 1869 Opera House and is the oldest continuously operating theater in the state of NY, and is one of the oldest in the United States.
