For your consideration is this rare and beautiful 136 year-old Ahrens horse-drawn steam engine fire pumper wagon puzzle published by Peter G. Thomson circa 1880 of Cincinnati Ohio.
Peter Thomson was known for making extremely realistic chromolithographed paper on cardboard puzzles and this Ahrens fire pumper is highly detailed, as can be seen in the photos. The puzzle has wear for being 142 years old but is complete with 21 sliced chromolithograph pieces and measures 16 inches by 12 inches. The puzzle artwork is signed "A. Crane, Del." In the lower left corner.
The box for the puzzle is in fantastic original condition with no split corners or crushing. The box measures 6.5” X 5.5” X 1.25”. The box top depicts the same artwork as the puzzle.
This Ahrens fire pumper puzzle even comes complete with the original puzzle guide which is bright vibrant and has some older tape repairs to some folds on the backside. The puzzle guide measures the same size as the puzzle and are often lost or missing.
