70th Infantry Division Ripple Weave White Back Patch WWII Vintage Europe

The Patch:
This Auction is for 1 WWII Vintage 70th Infantry Division shoulder patch with a white back.
This patch is in good condition.    It has a very nice white backing.  This patch does not glow under the UV light and is guaranteed to be authentic.
The 70
th
Infantry Division was activated on June 15, 1943 at
Camp Adair
,
Oregon
.  It embarked for the European Theater in December of 1944.  They arrived on December 10
th
and were sent to positions along the
Rhine
River
by the end of the year.  They first saw battle near Bitche as German forces were attempting to cut off Seventh Army forces west of the
Severgen
Pass.
They next moved into positions near
Saarbrucken
,
Germany
.  They crossed the Saar river on March 18
th
and captured the town of
Saarbrucken
two days later.  On March 21
st
, elements of the 70
th
met up with the Third Army to form the Saar Pocket.  They participated in the destruction of German forces trapped in the pocket until the war ended on May 8
th
, 1945.  The 70
th
served in occupation duty until they returned home in October of 1945
