    Description

List of officers hand bill (just under 3 ½” by 7”) from the Mystic Fire District in Mystic, Connecticut, circa 1880s to 1890s. The list is not dated but a few men on the list, like Reverend Frederick Denison and Daniel F. Packer, died in the first few years of the 1900s, making the date probably no later than the late 1890s. This looks like an election ballot, but I think it is just a printed record of the officers. The Mystic Fire District was formed in 1879, and its records are now held by Mystic Seaport Museum. The other men in the list are: Allen Avery, Charles Grinnell, George H. Greenman, Samuel H. Buckley, John E. Williams, Abel H. Simmons, Benjamin L. Holmes, Asa Fish, George E. Grinnell, Silas E. Lewis, and Frank B. Smith. Most of these men are buried in Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. The hand bill is in good condition with light wear and soiling. Note the roughness at the top edge. A nice little bit of Mystic Fire Department history!
